RefundYourSOL Security & Safety
How RefundYourSOL keeps your SOL safe. Non-custodial architecture, Safety Burns, transaction transparency, and what data we do and don't collect.
When you connect your wallet to any dApp, security matters. This page explains exactly how RefundYourSOL works, what we can and can't access, and why it's safe to use.
Non-Custodial Architecture
RefundYourSOL is fully non-custodial. This means:
- We never have access to your private keys. Your seed phrase and private keys never leave your wallet.
- We never hold your funds. SOL goes directly from the closed token account back to your wallet in the same transaction.
- We can't move your tokens. Every transaction requires your explicit approval in your wallet (Phantom, Solflare, etc.) before it executes.
- No signup or account required. Connect, scan, close. That's it.
The entire process happens through standard Solana transactions that you sign directly in your wallet. RefundYourSOL constructs the transaction, you review it, and you approve it. If you don't approve, nothing happens.
How Transactions Work
Here's exactly what happens when you close accounts on RefundYourSOL:
1. Scan — We read your wallet's public token accounts using Solana's RPC. This is read-only and requires no approval.
2. Build — We construct a transaction that closes the selected empty accounts and returns the rent SOL to your wallet.
3. Review — You see exactly which accounts will be closed and how much SOL you'll recover before signing anything.
4. Sign — You approve the transaction in your wallet. This is the only step that requires your approval.
5. Execute — The transaction is submitted to the Solana network. Rent SOL is returned to your wallet in the same transaction.
At no point does RefundYourSOL have the ability to move SOL or tokens without your explicit wallet signature.
Safety Burns — Your Insurance Policy
The biggest risk with any token burning tool is accidentally burning the wrong token. On every other platform, burns are permanent and irreversible.
RefundYourSOL is the only tool that offers Safety Burns:
- If you accidentally burn a token you didn't mean to, it can be reversed in most cases
- Valuable tokens are flagged before burning — the tool identifies tokens with market value and warns you
- You review exactly what will be burned before confirming
- Safety Burns can be toggled off if you want permanent, irreversible burns (e.g., for supply burning)
This is especially important when cleaning up wallets with hundreds of accounts, where it's easy to miss a token that has value.
What Data We Collect
We collect:
- Your public wallet address (needed to scan your accounts)
- Transaction logs (which accounts were closed, for troubleshooting)
- Basic analytics (page views, error rates)
We do NOT collect:
- Private keys or seed phrases — ever
- Token balances or portfolio data beyond what's needed for the scan
- Personal information — no signup, no email, no name
- Browsing history or tracking across other sites
Fee Transparency
- Our headline fee is 15%, taken from the recovered SOL — you never pay out of pocket
- Fee matching drops this to as low as 1.85% — paste any competitor URL
- $RYS holder discounts and XP ranking bonuses can reduce fees under 1%
- Fee Payer mode covers transaction fees when your wallet has zero SOL
- Fees are shown clearly before you sign. No hidden charges.
Wallet Support
RefundYourSOL works with all major Solana wallets:
- Phantom
- Solflare
- Backpack
- Coinbase Wallet
- Ledger (via wallet adapter)
- And any wallet that supports the Solana wallet adapter standard
Smart Contract Safety
RefundYourSOL uses standard Solana SPL Token Program instructions:
closeAccount— closes empty token accounts and returns rentburn— burns dust token balances to zero before closing- These are native Solana instructions, not custom smart contracts
For our staking feature ($RYS token), the staking contract has been deployed on Solana mainnet and handles token locking and reward distribution.
Protecting Yourself
Even though RefundYourSOL is safe, here are general best practices for any Solana dApp:
1. Never share your seed phrase. No legitimate service will ever ask for it.
2. Review transactions before signing. Check what the transaction does in your wallet's approval screen.
3. Use a hardware wallet for large holdings. Ledger works with RefundYourSOL via the wallet adapter.
4. Revoke unused approvals. If you've granted token approvals to other dApps, periodically review and revoke them.
5. Verify the URL. Always access RefundYourSOL at refundyoursol.com — bookmark it to avoid phishing sites.
